Hello!

This is a blog about some of the things in my life that I've come to enjoy. I keep, so to speak, a record of all the things that I do in my spare time. I am a cat addict, nature fanatic, vintage lover, girl gamer, and love to research and write about interesting facts plus more! I hope you enjoy viewing my blog.

Ten Ways to Tell If You're a Cat Person

You talk to them.
When you accidentally bump into your cat, you apologize. When they're on your lap, you talk to them like a baby. If they've done something wrong, you do more than to just say "no." You give them a whole lecture about it.

Every chance you get, you save boxes just so that the cat can have a bed to sleep in.
When you've ordered that new cat toy in a package, and it finally arrives, you break it out of the box. Your cat doesn't even pay attention to the new toy. Instead, it curls up in that cozy box that you got just for him. How generous of you.

When you open a new jug of milk, you save the ring from the lid.
Both of our cats love to play with the milk rings. Again, they never pay attention to their so-called "cat toys." Instead, they like to jump on their back legs and dance around with the amazing milk ring.

Even if they shed all over it, you allow the cats to sleep on the furniture.
The vacuum is your new best friend when your cats sleep on the furniture. It's a lot of work, but the satisfaction of seeing them sleep on the couch in peace is worth it.

You spoil them with things like canned food, catnip, and fancy toys.
This means everything from mushy canned food to catnip spray and laser lights. Your cat will love you forever especially if you give them that deliciously meaty canned food.

You let them have some of your food.
Besides feeding them canned food, you also let them have some of your food every once in a while. Wether it is droppings from the dinner table, or a dollop of whipped cream, you spoil your cat with the much envied human food.

You allow their wet nose to touch your bare skin.
If you can more than tolerate your cat touching your leg with its wet nose, you are definitely a cat person.

Certain elements of your wardrobe have to do with cats.
It may be a hello kitty necklace, or it may be a cute sweater that says something like "Eat, Sleep, Cats." If you're a cat person, you will have at least one thing in your wardrobe that shows your fondness with felines.

You let them sleep with you.
Even if that means they push you out of bed, you put up with sleeping with your cat because you just love them that much (and they love you, too!).

You're not afraid to kiss them.
If you give your cats head butts or kiss them on their head, you are, without a doubt, a cat person.

My 15 Favorite Remedies for Headaches and Migraines

Okay, so I'm going to be real here. I get headaches. A LOT. It's probably because I get stressed out too much, resulting in tension headaches. So, I've researched and compiled a list of headache and migraine remedies for those of you that just have a little more tension than others.

Topical:

Lavender oil
Lavender oil is good for soothing many things, including headaches. Just rub some onto your temples (or wherever your headache is) and relax.

Ice
Ice is great for headaches. There are two techniques that you can use. You can either put an ice pack over your head, or you can simply get one ice cube and rub it on the back of your neck. This method has worked many times for me when my head is in pain.

Heating pad
If the ice doesn't work, you can heat things up a bit with a heating pad. Just place it on your head and rest.

Moist towel - warm or cool

Hot shower

Internal Use:

Alka-Seltzer
This is by far my favorite remedy for internal use to cure a headache or migraine. It works very fast. Just use one pack of it in a small amount of water, less than 8 oz. You can buy Alka-Seltzer at Walmart for $6.

Cayenne pepper
Take two cayenne capsules, rather than choking the powder down in a glass of water. This method is much easier and still has the same effect.

Chamomile tea
Chamomile tea is a relaxant. So, just do exactly that and treat yourself to some nice warm chamomile tea.

Ginger
Some people swear by it this. I took ginger once for a headache, and it never seemed to help me. I will, however, still put it out there that many other people say that it does actually work for their headaches.

Almonds
Eating 10-12 almonds is about the equivalent of taking two aspirins. They may not taste that great to some people, but it can cure a headache if it really gets that bad.

Other:

Massage
If you have a vibrator, massage therapist, or a loved one willing to tend to your headache, you can just lay down, relax, and get the spa treatment.

Stretching
Stretching is a great way to relieve headaches. Simply take your right hand and put it over the left side of your head, then gently pull your head to the right. The repeat the same on the left side.

Exercising
Exercising can be be an amazing way to promote circulation throughout the body. You can do any kind of exercise, but the higher and longer it gets your heart rate up, the better. I recommend at least 30 minutes of upbeat exercise.

Sleep
This is definitely my favorite overall remedy to kill a headache. If you have time, you can take a nap, but long overnight sleep is preferred to kill headaches.

No electronics
Last but not least, staying off electronics will ease a headache. So, what are you waiting for? Put your phone down and get some rest!

YoWorld is Possibly Facebook's Best Virtual World Game

YoWorld is a social game on Facebook where the main attraction is interacting with other players around the world. Now, I know, there are some people who can't stand those Facebook game requests from addicts like me. I, for one, know the friends of mine that don't play the games and just don't send them the requests, leaving it at that. With that being said, let me briefly tell you about YoWorld. In this game, you can earn coins and cash. You can buy and decorate as many houses as you want as well as buying clothes and dressing up. There is even a mobile app called YoWorld Companion where you can earn even more prizes. The part that I like the most is the unique amount of people you meet. There are certain circles of friends that you can settle into and find where you fit in. There are also very strange and disturbed people on YoWorld, too, and you really have to watch out for those types, as you do in real life. I will tell you this, there is no other game like it. The graphics are cuter than most virtual world games, and the people are definitely more interactive and diverse than in other games. Just stick with the right people, and you will really find that YoWorld is worth your time by making some new friends right from your own living room.

The Beautifully Fascinating Dead Sea

Here is a beautiful picture of the sunrise over the dead sea for you.

Speaking of the Dead Sea, did you know that life is coming back to it? It is also the lowest point on the earth. Its shores are 1,388 ft. At certain times of the year, the salinity decreases to where bacteria can actually survive there. Other than that, there are no other life forms that can live the dead sea. Egyptians even mummified the dead with mud from the dead sea.

This is why I absolutely love nature. From the smallest insect to the largest body of water, all of nature is simply fascinating. And beautiful. And intriguing. And lovely. I love nature so much that sometimes I just listen to nature sounds on my phone and imagine myself somewhere beautiful. What else are our senses for?

I only went out for a walk and finally concluded to stay out till sundown, for going out, I found, was really going in. -John Muir

A Living Creature Opposed to Shoes

Cat paws. Why paws, you ask? Because a picture like this is so much cuter than that of which there are several thousands that reflect it. You know, the picture of a girl's new shoes, sometimes even shown with a friend's shoes that match. Then there are those pictures in the summer where girls are shown wearing flip-flops with their toenails all painted. Although those pictures are glistening with the beauty of young teens who are addicted to shoes, I would choose cat paws over new heels any day. Besides, they have those new colored claw caps that you can put on your cat's claws to keep them from shredding the house to death. Nail polish on my cat, in addition to no more threads hanging from the recliner? I'll go for it. As you can see here, Toby is somewhat stretching his claws out. Yes, he is purring with delight as I sit there shining that bright light in his face. He is such a sweet boy. I'll have to record him purring in the future for you to see his full-blown sweetness. He has truly clawed his way into my heart and has never let go.

Five Ways to Keep Your Cat Happy

Cats often have a smile when you look at them from the side. I know mine do. It seems as though that smile may be enhanced from time to time, perhaps when I’m cuddling with them while they purr away. Here are some of the ways I’ve found that can make my cat happy and you can too:

Pet the cat. A lot. Personally, there is nothing that I like more than cuddling with my cat and winning the ultimate prize of its purring, which in turn makes me feel relaxed. As I repetitively pet it, it lovingly looks up at me with a sweet look on its face, as its eyes are squinting with contentment. See what I did there? We both got something out of that deal.

Give the cat mushy food once or twice a day. Although mushy food is often viewed more as the junk food of the cat world, believe it or not, it is actually more healthier than dry food. It is however, more convenient for the busy person to simply fill the dry food bowls in the morning and go about their day. Mushy food is more rewarding, however, as it can make your cat happy and healthy. So don’t be afraid to spoil your cat with delicious and healthful mushy food!
Give the cat fresh water at room temperature. I have found my cats drinking out of the dripping faucet in the bathroom so many times! This is obvious that they are looking for fresh water. When I check their bowls after this, there is always something that fell in their bowl, like a food particle or something else that was dropped from kitchen happenings. They always leave the faucet and come straight to their fresh water after I refill their bowl, except when the water is too cold. I always try the water at room temperature and that seems to do the trick. They are then quenched of their thirst and are quite content.
Play with the cat. It is a typical stereotype that cats are lazy. In all honesty, though, cats can be really playful, as most cat owners would know. My cat, Tasha, indeed is a very playful kitty. She always pats the floor, or if it’s there, she will pat her shoestring, communicating that she wants to play. When we accept the invite to play, she leaps and flips around, loving every minute of it, as the string is swaying back and forth. Toby, on the other hand, tends to be more on the lazy side of things, as he likes to try to catch the red dot, but never involves any kind of jumping. He likes to get more ground action. The point is that most cats still like to play, however they do it. Play with that cat of yours! Let the string do its thing.
Clean out the litter box. Every day. It’s that job that we all hate doing. It is the not so sweet part of owning our sweet  little cats. Not every cat may do this, but my cat lets me know when his litter box is full! He runs around the house, meowing at the top of his lungs, and gets all frizzed out. When I first got my cat, I wondered what troubled him so much. Why was he so upset? I gave him more food and I changed his water. He was still upset. I proceeded to check the litter box, and as soon as after I cleaned it, he walked downstairs and used it. After that, he was calm. What can I say? He had to go. Always make sure that you keep your cat’s special area nice and clean!

If you keep your cat smiling, you will be smiling too!

Today is a beautiful day...

Today is a beautiful day where I live. For the first time this year, we have the windows open in the house! The cats are loving that part. I thought I'd share some more cat pictures today for all you cat lovers out there:

I'd like to introduce you to the family cat, Tasha! She is well known for being quiet, playful, cute, and smaller than average. She is part somali, and the rest is unknown.

Tasha Tounge

Toby likes to find sun spots for warmth.

Tasha looks like the size of a kitten, but she is actually three years old! She's definitely the runt of the litter.

Well, I'm off to enjoy this beautiful day! I certainly wouldn't want to miss it. :)
